CONSTELLATIONS

 What is a constellation?

A constellation is a group of stars that appears to form a pattern or picture. Constellations are easily recognizable patterns that help people orient themselves using the night sky. There are 88 “official” constellations.

How can we easily find the constellations? Can they help us orientate?

If you want to see constellations the best places are some that are far from the city, where there are not many house lights nearby. The best time is summer since there are usually not many clouds. The main bear is the easiest constellation to see. It is one of the most used to locate the north.

Tell us 4 constellations (name) and add a picture.

Hydra                                                                                            Virgo

Ursa major                                                                                             Draco

Search and summary the story behind one of them.

The name of Draco means dragon (translated from latin). Draco was associated with Ladon, the mythical dragon who guarded the golden apples of the Hesperides. As part of his 12 works, Heracles killed Ladon and stole the golden apples, which is why  the constellation Hercules is represented near Draco. In another myth, Draco was one of the Giants, who fought against the Olympian gods for ten years. During this battle, Dragon was killed by the goddess Athena who threw him into heaven. In the process, Draco’s body twisted and froze at the north celestial pole. It is located near the North Pole, around the Ursa minor.

SOLAR SYSTEM

Neptune is dark, cold, and very windy. Neptune has six rings, but they're very hard to see. Uranus is Neptune’s near twin and composition. Neptune has a powerful magnetic field. It is 27 times stronger than Earth’s. Neptune has a radius of 24.764 km /and a diameter of 49.244 km, Neptune is four times larger than Earth and Venus. Neptune has 13 moons. It's made of a thick fog of water, ammonia, and methane over an Earth-sized solid center.

One day on Neptune goes by in 16 hours. Neptune formed around 4.5 billion years ago. Neptune has such a long journey around the Sun it takes 165 Earth years to go around once.  The core of Neptune is about 1.5 times the size of Earth.

Neptune is very similar to Uranus. It's the last of the planets in our solar system. It's more than 30 times as far from the sun as Earth is. Neptune is the farthest planet from the Sun at an average distance of 4.5 billion kilometers. Neptune is the fourth-largest planet in the Solar System sunlight reaches Neptune after 4 hours. Was discovered in 1846 by Urbain Le Verrier, John Couch Adams, and Johann Galle. In Greek mythology, he is known as Poseidon. The planet was probably given this name due to its blue appearance.

ASTRONOMY CRAFT(Activity 5) 🪐

INTRODUCTION:

In this experiment our goal is for the magnetized needle to signal the north.

MATERIALS:

-bowl

-magnet

-Cork

-Needle

-Water

PROCEDURE:

-First we cut the cork in half.

-Then we nail the needle.

-And we requed the magnet with a needle.

-Fill  the bowl with water, and  put the cork with the needle.

RESULTES AND SOURCES:

Finally the needle pointed north.

BIG BANG (Activitiy)

BIG BANG

The astronomers believe that the universe was formed about 14 billion years ago,

at that moment it was inside a very dense bubble. Then it suddenly exploded. The Universe that we know was born.

The land was growing for a few years.

The cosmos contained a vast array of fundamental particles such as neutrons, electrons

and protons.Only 5 percent of the universe is made up of matter such as planets, stars,

and galaxies. Over the next three minutes, the temperature dropped below 1 billion degrees

Celsius.

After 300 000 years, the Universe had cooled to about 3000 degrees. Atomic nuclei

could finally capture electrons to form atoms. The Universe is filled with clouds of hydrogen

and helium gas.
